Bistro awaiting furniture

One of the newest additions to The Captain’s Manor Inn that we are most excited about is the Bistro area.  Kevin has been diligently working to install the new cabinets and granite top as you will see from the attached pictures.  This coming Friday the new bistro furniture from Pier 1 is being delivered.  We will plan to try it out this weekend with family before our grand re-opening for Memorial Day weekend.

Robin Pierson | Window Art Update

April 18th, 2012 by trobinson

We are excited to share progress on the window art being worked on by Robin Pierson for the Canopy room.  As you will see by the pictures below, Robin has taken the original window and placed the antique style map of Cape Cod within the main panes.  More pictures of progress should follow in the next couple of weeks.

The weather has been beautiful the past couple of days here at The Captain’s Manor Inn which is helping us to get some important outdoor work completed on the new construction.  The finishing touches are being done on the new main entrance stairs to the veranda and Kevin has been very busy creating the new brick patio at the base of the stair entrance.  Needless to say his back and knees are a bit sore!

Hope you enjoy these pictures of the progess.

Katherine Lee Bates Room Construction

March 30th, 2012 by trobinson

Hard to believe that less than 60 days are left until we reopen the Inn.  The tiling of all the new bathrooms is well underway and the crown molding and wood trim is in process.  The Bates room is a fun room to capture as it progresses. We posted a short video below that we hope you enjoy :)

Construction Update | Cape Cod

March 12th, 2012 by trobinson

Progress continues with the rough in for the electrical and plumbing/heating complete.  It is incredible to see the amount of wire and piping that is going into the addition.

Our plumbing and heating professional is someone we used when we lived in Western Massachusetts and we are so pleased that he traveled out with his team to do our work.  He is a great professional and a patriot as you will see from his truck.

Look at the intricate valves for all the plumbing lines for the new bathrooms and heating systems in the addition!!!

Interior Framing of New Rooms |Falmouth | Bed & Breakfast

February 22nd, 2012 by trobinson

As the winter continues to be mild we are VERY thankful.  The exterior walls of the Inn have been opened into the new addition as the framing of interior walls, rough in plumbing and rough in electrical begins.  Needless to say it is quite dusty and drafty, we can just imagine how cold it would be if it were a typical winter:)

Thought you might enjoy some pictures showing the breakthrough and also some of the new rooms being framed out.

Window Art | Robin Pierson | Cape Cod

February 17th, 2012 by trobinson

We are very pleased that as part of our Inn expansion we will be adding a wonderful piece of art to the Canopy room.  The Captain’s Manor Inn has wonderful original windows with plantation shutters that we have worked hard to maintain as we renovate and add on to the property.  In the Canopy room we are in the process of taking out the old bathroom and an old closet and that space will now become part of the living area of the bedroom.  We are also adding on a new bathroom which will feature custom tile work and a large 5 x 4 foot shower.  To do this work we are adding to the back of the room and we have decided to keep the old window and plantation shutter but to create a work of art highlighted within the window as specialized in by Robin Pearson.  We will keep you posted on the progress  but in the meantime here are some pictures what has been taken out and some initial work by Robin as well as an example of her work from another project.  Enjoy.

Winter Really Exists on Cape Cod

January 16th, 2012 by trobinson

It is bitterly cold out today!  After an incredibly mild winter to date the artic freeze started yesterday and is in full force today.  That has not stopped our wonderful framers from working hard to keep the addition on track.  Over the weekend Kevin and I recruited our two young adult children to form a painting production line.  The story is that we are replicating 174 brackets on the wrap around veranda and our architect had them made and shipped from Georgia.  They arrived on Friday and had to all be painted by Monday for the framer to get them on the house in preparation for the siding work to begin.  So here we are on Monday and the brackets are being attached as I write this.  Some pictures of this part of our Cape Cod bed and breakfast project are shown below:

Captain’s Manor Inn | “Raise the Roof”

January 9th, 2012 by trobinson

Now things are really getting exciting!!!  The weather continues to cooperate so that today the roof is being shingled and the windows are going in.  It is so hard to believe that we are enjoying 50 + degree weather in Falmouth Cape Cod as we enter the second week of January.  Certainly some would say global warming and others just chalk it up to crazy New England weather.  Now that the addition is starting to be closed in it builds our confidence that we will keep the project on track.  The other good thing is that we can avoid the crazy flood we experienced a couple of weeks ago when the rain came pouring down right into the 1st floor kitchen/pantry through the antique window because the drainpipe was removed where the new addition abuts the house.  YIKES!!

I thought you might appreciate seeing the video of the little window waterfall and the new windows and roofing activity.
