Interior Framing of New Rooms |Falmouth | Bed & Breakfast

February 22, 2012 by insideout

As the winter continues to be mild we are VERY thankful.ย  The exterior walls of the Inn have been opened into the new addition as the framing of interior walls, rough in plumbing and rough in electrical begins.ย  Needless to say it is quite dusty and drafty, we can just imagine how cold it would be if it were a typical winter:)

Thought you might enjoy some pictures showing the breakthrough and also some of the new rooms being framed out.

Window Art | Robin Pierson | Cape Cod

February 17, 2012 by insideout

We are very pleased that as part of our Inn expansion we will be adding a wonderful piece of art to the Canopy room.ย  The Captain’s Manor Inn has wonderful original windows with plantation shutters that we have worked hard to maintain as we renovate and add on to the property.ย  In the Canopy room we are in the process of taking out the old bathroom and an old closet and that space will now become part of the living area of the bedroom.ย  We are also adding on a new bathroom which will feature custom tile work and a large 5 x 4 foot shower.ย  To do this work we are adding to the back of the room and we have decided to keep the old window and plantation shutter but to create a work of art highlighted within the window as specialized in by Robin Pearson.ย  We will keep you posted on the progressย  but in the meantime here are some pictures what has been taken out and some initial work by Robin as well as an example of her work from another project.ย  Enjoy.

Winter Really Exists on Cape Cod

January 16, 2012 by insideout

It is bitterly cold out today!ย  After an incredibly mild winter to date the artic freeze started yesterday and is in full force today.ย  That has not stopped our wonderful framers from working hard to keep the addition on track.ย  Over the weekend Kevin and I recruited our two young adult children to form a painting production line.ย  The story is that we are replicating 174 brackets on the wrap around veranda and our architect had them made and shipped from Georgia.ย  They arrived on Friday and had to all be painted by Monday for the framer to get them on the house in preparation for the siding work to begin.ย  So here we are on Monday and the brackets are being attached as I write this.ย  Some pictures of this part of our Cape Cod bed and breakfast project are shown below:

Captains Manor Inn Construction Update

January 2, 2012 by insideout

Happy New Year to all!!ย  The construction is moving along but as anyone who has been through it knows there are hiccups along the way :)ย  Good news is that we just had the driveway initial paving done before winter hits (at this rate winter may not hit seeing as it was 50 degrees yesterday!).ย  The hope is that in about one week the entire roof will be complete.ย  At this time the roof is on the new veranda and the plywood sheathing is almost complete on the actual roof over the living areas.ย  The cupola is also under construction on top of the new addition.

Construction Update – November 21

Progress continues on the addition. Kevin kept everything on track while I had the chance to visit Ireland!ย  Check out the pictures of the new veranda concrete piers being covered over with soil and the cutting of the concrete wall where the stairs will go to lead into the new garden level guest suite.
