Special Thank You
In appreciation of all that the valiant and courageous members of the U.S. military do for us every day The Captain’s Manor Inn is offering our guests the opportunity to nominate an active member of the U.S. military for a special raffle that will be held at the end of August. Any guest at our Falmouth bed and breakfast who stays for two nights or more between April 2011 and August 2011 is eligible to submit a raffle nomination. The active military winner of the raffle will receive:
- a complimentary 2 night stay for two at The Captain’s Manor Inn
- round trip ferry tickets to Martha’s Vineyard to enjoy a day trip
- a complimentary gourmet wine and cheese platter for one night of their stay.
A gift certificate will be sent to the winner explaining the raffle prize and letting them know which of our guests nominated them for the raffle.
Many of our guests love to visit Martha’s Vineyard for a day during their stay at our Cape Cod bed and breakfast. This week we learned of some work being done at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown that we thought we would share. A couple of weeks ago a crane was brought in and the Main Street area around the Church in Edgartown was closed for three hours in order to remove the 1,500-pound bronze bell from the tower of the Old Whaling Church and send it in for repair.
This is the first time the bell, cast in 1843 in the Boston foundry of Henry N. Cooper & Co., has been down from the tower.
The plan is to have the bell back in place and chiming the hours in Edgartown before Memorial Day.
What a great weekend getaway for 10 girlfriends celebrating their dear friend’s 60th birthday. Just a bit of their itinerary included:
Friday noon arrival with gift boxes in each room, lunch at the Inn, 2:00 pm mini-facials at the Inn with Caron using the wonderful Arbonne skin care line, 6:00 pm off to the Cranberry Spa for manicures, pedicures along with wine, cheese and pizza; back to the Inn for great conversation and laughs
Saturday breakfast and then off to Martha’s Vineyard where the day included lunch at State Road Restaurant, a visit and shopping at Martha’s Vineyard Glassworks where the special glassblowing exhibition was of beautiful pumpkins, Edgartown for shopping and a stop at The Atlantic Fish and Chop House at the Harbor for a cocktail, back to the Inn to freshen up and then off to Nimrod for dinner.
What incredible weather we had for Alexis and Luke’s stay as they celebrated their honeymoon. Champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a beautiful dozen red roses were waiting in their guest room upon their arrival. Breakfast out on the veranda each morning enjoying the garden views. They also enjoyed great local restaurants and shopping as well as a trip to Martha’s Vineyard. The last evening included a respite on the veranda with a gourmet wine and cheese platter plus their take home souvenier of hand etched wine glasses from The Captain’s Manor Inn.
Best wishes for many happy years to a beautiful couple!!
We are having a wonderful time meeting our guests who are traveling from various states in the U.S. as well as from around the world to join us at the Inn in Cape Cod. Since opening in May our international guests have been from Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Norway and the U.K. One uncanny visit was from 2 couples visiting from Melbourne and Sydney Australia. It just so happened that our daughter was getting ready to travel to Australia for a college tri-mester abroad and she was able to visit with our guests and gain wonderful information on her upcoming trip. The uncanny part was she was only home for that one night before heading out and our guests just happened to be in Falmouth prior to going to Martha’s Vineyard and they found our Inn for their one night stay as they were driving through town. We are so lucky!! I have attached some pictures from our new Australia friends who were kind enough to send them when they arrived home.
