Scarecrows on Falmouth Main Street

November 10, 2013 by insideout

For all of you who could not see the Scarecrows on Falmouth Main Street this blog is for you.

It’s hard to believe that October is over and we are less than 3 weeks from Thanksgiving!!

October was another busy month in Falmouth and one of the fun events was the creation of this year’s scarecrow exhibit along the lamp posts of Falmouth Village.  Last year was the first year that our creative business owners in Falmouth Village wanted to embark on this fun event and this year it continued to grow in the number of participants.   We encourage you to visit in the Fall and see Main Street in it’s glory as well as exhibits at Highfield Hall and Falmouth Museums on the Green.

In case you were not able to view the scarecrows  this year we have several pictures to share:

Highfield Hall | Mosaic Signatures

July 23, 2013 by insideout

Highfield Hall is one of Falmouth’s great treasures.  It was preserved thanks to the determination of some of Falmouth’s most dedicated citizens who cared deeply about the history and beauty of the Beebe family mansion.  While visiting Cape Cod you should plan to tour this beautifully restored estate.  The expansive grounds feature a restored victorian sunken garden and acres of walking trails.  The interior of the Beebe family mansion has also been lovingly restored with historic details preserved wherever possible.  Just to the left of the front foyer you can tour what was an old parlor and now hosts an exhibit of the history of the Beebe family and Highfield Hall.

Currently there is a fabulous mosaic exhibit underway that will continue through September 1, 2013.  The exhibit is called Signatures and features the work of 15 extremely talented mosaic artists. The artwork on display is rich in color and detail and includes everything from landscape to floral and portrait mosaics.

Below are pictures of some of the mosaics on display at Highfield Hall.

Falmouth Commodores

July 12, 2013 by insideout

Looking to go out and expeience what Falmouth has to offer? Need some time to have a little fun and watch a little baseball? The Falmouth Commodores is a local baseball team in Falmouth composed of top college players who come from all over the country to play in the Cape Cod Baseball  league. The games are held at Guy Fuller Field, which is only a 5 minute drive from the inn, and is located on Main Street, just as the inn is.

The field offers metal bleachers, huge lights, a concession stand, and announcers just as the professionals provide. You experience everything that you would if you were going to a professional league game, but there are less people to create a more serene and welcoming environment. To share a little history on the Cape Cod Baseball league:

  • the first game ever played in the league was on July 19, 1939,
  • the two teams to first play each other were Falmouth and Barnstable.

This shows how rich the history of the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League truly is.
